Perhaps it’s all that residual romance left over from Valentine’s Day, or maybe it’s the promise of spring in the air. Whatever the reason, Cartoon Network has decided that February is the month to celebrate the continued exploits of the unlucky-in-love Fionna and her feline-in-waiting Cake, Adventure Time‘s own in-house fan-fic duo.

It all kicked off over the weekend with the release of a brand new iOS game. Just as Fionna is a gender-swapped analog to Finn the Human, so does the new mobile release Fionna Fights mirror the previous high-flying Adventure Time title Jumping Finn. Leap from the back of Marshall Lee the Vampire King and cut monsters down with crazy mid-air combos, dash attacks and other unlockable methods of destruction.

Just like its predecessor, the key to victory is perseverance. The enormous learning curve of Fionna Fights flattens quickly as you rack up gems to purchase attack upgrades. Plus the game channels all the visual charm of the source material, making it a title sure to please die-hard Adventure Time fans (especially with its 99-cent price tag).

The girl power trend continued last night with the premiere of “Bad Little Boy,” the show’s second Fionna and Cake story, and it reaches its apex with today’s release of the 16-episode DVD collection simply called Fionna and Cake. Featuring the post-mortem mystery of “Ghost Princess,” the tabletop-skewering “Card Wars,” and Donald Faison’s delightful performance in “Princess Cookie” alongside the fan favorite title episode, it’s a solid offering even though it too skimps on extras — save for the obligatory “Little Did You Know” feature.

If you’re a fan of the series’ original duo, their female counterparts, the shrieking Earl of Lemongrab or the delicate winged Astral Beast, it’s definitely worth the price of admission. And (as always) Amazon has the current price to beat at under 12 bucks.
