Da Vinci’s Demons Art Revealed

Television

It is getting closer to the day of the premiere of Starz Da Vinci’s Demons, an unusual new show centered around the younger days of Leonardo Da Vinci, and Starz has released the new poster, above, to entice viewers to check out the show.

Da Vinci’s Demons will premiere Friday, April 12, at 10pm ET/PT on the Starz network. It’s the brainchild of David S. Goyer, who is credited with the story for The Dark Knight Rises and the upcoming Man of Steel. I attended a press roundtable for the show at last fall’s New York Comic Con and found Goyer and his cast excited about the work they’re doing, though they were careful to avoid possible spoilers, which made describing the show a little difficult.

Series star Tom Riley (Leonardo) described his character as a cross between Indiana Jones and Sherlock Holmes, while Goyer described his creation as a “historical fantasy.” There certainly have also been hints of Leonardo’s sense of fun, similar to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, in the preview trailer that Starz has been airing.

Mission accomplished. I’m intrigued.
