Exclusive: Phineas and Ferb’s Dr. Doofenshmirtz Launches Web Series, Twitter Account

Internet

Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, the evil scientist on Disney Channel’s Phineas and Ferb who isn’t very evil and is an almost completely unsuccessful scientist, is definitely one of many people’s favorite characters on the hit show. When you consider that he has to literally do all the talking during his battles with Perry the Platypus (as the fearsome Agent P, of course), the fact that the show’s writers and Doofenshmirtz voice actor (and show creator) Dan Povenmire manage to keep the bumbling inventor funny and engaging is no small feat.

I must admit that I had wondered for a while why Doofenshmirtz never launched a blog, either in video form like Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible or otherwise — he’s clearly of the opinion that everyone should be interested in what he has to say, after all. So I was glad to hear from the folks at Disney that they’re launching a new web series and Twitter account for Doof to provide insightful commentary on internet-related topics as only he can. The weekly web series, titled “Doofenshmirtz’s Daily Dirt” (yes, it’s a weekly series with “daily” in its title), has already begun: The first episode, in which Doof discusses popular internet acronyms, is live on the official YouTube channel for the series, which I recommend subscribing to so you don’t miss any future episodes, and is embedded below for your viewing pleasure. The second episode, in which he discusses lolcats, is exclusively available today only here on GeekDad and embedded below that. Each episode is only about 100 seconds long, so get watching! See below the videos for a few pictures from a future episode of the series, in which it appears the good evil doctor has something to say about (and possibly to) the popular boy band One Direction.

The Twitter account, which will as you’d expect provide more frequent samples of Doof’s wisdom (if that’s the right word) is already going strong at @DoofDaily. Enjoy!
