On Friday we packed up the family van and headed to San Antonio for the first VEX event to be held in the Alamo City. Hosted by the U.S. Army in conjunction with the All-American Bowl, the event featured nearly 50 teams from around Texas and Mexico competing for a chance to go to the VEX World Championships. The event was very well run and I look forward to returning next year. Check out below for a cool promotional video the Army put together with video shot that day.

My daughter’s team, 4000X in the pink shirts above, lost out in the quarter finals, but they scored a respectable 170 points in the driver skills. Our others teams, 4000 and 4000A, advanced to the semifinals. Teams 231C and 231D from Pasadena, TX, and The Discobots (Team 2587Z) from Houston went on to become the tournament champions. The current world record Programming Skills score of 165 was set by KAOS (Team 1429B) from Galena Park, Texas.
