This time of year, daylight isn’t a given. For people with conventional schedules, sometimes kids are going to school in the dark, and coming home in the almost-dark. Parents often have it even worse. But darkness need not be scary or restrictive. Even when we want to be all cozy, snug in our beds or on our couches, winter is often a great time to see the stars because there can be less moisture in the air to make it hazy.
Owly & Wormy: Bright Lights and Starry Nights by Andy Runton takes on nighttime and teaches kids about being outside and looking at the stars. This latest picture book in the Owly series follows Owly & Wormy, Friends All Aflutter!, along with all the original Owly graphic novels, and carries on Owly’s wordless stories with his pal Wormy. Follow along as Owly and Wormy prepare for a stargazing adventure. They meet some challenges along the way, but in the end, they are able to enjoy the stars, and learn a few lessons about friendship.
