If you’ve never seen Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation in its full-length, homebrew glory, you may have a chance over the coming months.
As part of the promotion for Alan Eisenstock’s book Raiders! The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made, which chronicles the shot-for-shot-by-kids remake, several U.S. screenings of the movie are scheduled with book signings over the coming months, starting today.

- 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 – Biloxi Saenger Theatre – Biloxi, Mississippi
- 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 – Chalmette Movies – Chalmette, Louisiana
- 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 – Palisades Branch Library – Pacific Palisades, California
- 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 – The Comic Bug – Manhattan Beach, California
- 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 – Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (where the movie debuted!) – Austin, Texas
Obviously, you’ll want to confirm times and dates with the venues, since the schedule may still be in flux: This interview with Susan Spann lists a possible Nov. 10 date at the Prytania Theatre in New Orleans, which conflicts with the Chalmette event. It also lists tentative screenings Jan. 4 at the Hamilton Stage in Rahway, New Jersey, and Jan. 5 at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City. I’d keep an eye on the creators’ Twitter feed, too.
Given the rights issues that come into play with a movie like The Adaptation, it may never see wide release, so the book signing and screening tour could be your best shot at catching it. And having read the full story behind the movie, I’m hoping they add more dates across the middle of the country: I’d drive 50+ miles and shell out the cash to see it again.
