Spooky Saturday Halloween Party With Scooby-Doo

Hacking the Holidays Places Television

Scooby-Doo, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck will greet visitors and pose for pictures at the Spooky Saturday Halloween 2012 event on October 27, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. Warner Bros. Animation and The Paley Center are co-hosting this special Halloween event which is open to the public.

Children who come in costume will be admitted for free, and the Paley Center is offering two-for-one admission for adults and kids who aren’t in costume; Regular admission prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 13; seniors and students are regularly $8. Activities include a dance party, photos with Bugs, Daffy and Scooby, screenings of classic spooky cartoons from the Warner library, pumpkin decorating, and various giveaways. Attendees will also get to see the new Warner Bros. exhibit at the Paley Center, “Television: Out of the Box,” which celebrates the studio’s nearly 60-year history of creating beloved TV programs.

The exhibit, which will run for the next three years with new items added periodically, includes props, costumes, original animation art, and set pieces from many WB shows including Dukes of Hazzard, The Sopranos, Friends, Gilligan’s Island, The Vampire Diaries, Seinfeld, and of particular interest to us here, Big Bang Theory, Babylon 5, Fringe, Wonder Woman, Supernatural, V, and Smallville. There is an exhibit of classic Hanna-Barbera toys, a recreation of the coffee shop from Friends, and a walk-in animation cel where visitors can pose for photos with Bugs and Daffy. There’s also the life-size Lego sculpture of Conan O’Brien. You can see photos and more information at the Paley Center website; you can also play a WB Trivia game.

The Paley Center for Media is at 465 North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills, CA 90210. I will be there for the event and will report back on it afterwards.
