Q&A With the Ladies of Ragnarok

People

Before The Doubleclicks and Molly Lewis start their tour this week, I asked them each to answer a few questions to help you get to know them. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you … the Ladies of Ragnarok.

Name: Angela Webber

Instruments: Guitar, Ukulele

Superpowers: Faster than a songwriting challenge, more powerful than a full inbox, able to book large shows in a single bound…

I make music because songs are shorter than essays, and I have a lot of weird things to say.

Going on this tour, I’m most excited about: meeting new geeks, playing games, and hanging out in the van with 3 of my favorite people.

I’m least excited about: The inevitable Lord-Of-The-Flies-like situation we will reach after 2 straight weeks of concerts and sleep deprivation.

My favorite thing about Aubrey: she is calm, kind, and helpful – no matter what. I would be nowhere without her.

My favorite thing about Molly: she is brilliant – you can tell by her songs, and just talking to her – that her knowledge and understanding is deep and wide.

I think the world will end: with an explosion of fantastic colors and light.

Name: Aubrey Webber

Instruments: Cello

Superpowers: I can dance like a wild gazelle. Also, I can make people laugh. And explode.

I make music for fun! It’s the best!

Going on this tour, I’m most excited about: Playing shows with the Rifftrax guys (BOTH Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy!!!), & finally seeing the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota

I’m least excited about: the inevitable disappointment after seeing the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota

My favorite thing about Molly is: her hair.

My favorite thing about Angela is: her hair.

I think the world will end: not with a bang, but with puppies!!

Name: Molly Lewis

Instruments: guitar, stylophone, any instrument that ends in “-lele” (ukulele, banjolele)

Superpowers: I am a Jedi. (Which is to say, if I point at something, squint, and sing the “The Force” motif from the Star Wars score, eventually someone will pick it up and hand it to me. I included a picture illustrating this practice — see below.)

I make music because the Dopey Love Songs : Songs About Anything Else At All ratio is far too high.

Going on this tour, I’m most excited about: the diversity of venues we’ll be playing. We’re doing some Dammit Liz Presents shows in larger venues, with special guest stars and pyrotechnics*; we’re doing some in-house stops at game stores and comic book shops; then there are some smaller house concerts in between, which I’ve never done before and am really looking forward to. The tour is going to be three weeks long, and I feel the mix of venues will keep our energy up.

I’m least excited about: the comments and emails I’ll get in the months after the tour that say “Hey, when are you going to play in [city that I played on the Ladies of Ragnarok tour]?”

My favorite thing about Angela is: her awesomely dry sense of humor. When she’s joking or being sarcastic, she plays it so straight that it’s hard to tell if she’s being serious or not.

My favorite thing about Aubrey is: she’s so zen and easygoing, like The Dude. As I’ve said more than once, the Aubrey abides.

I think the world will end: not with a blog, but a twitter.

*There will not actually be pyrotechnics.
