Kids of all ages love playing with iPads, and it often amazes parent how even the youngest children can pick one up and be immediately in tune with the device. But it helps if the apps they are running help them with the fundamental skills they need to learn to read and write.

SUPER WHY! ABC Adventures: Alphabet is the new game from PBS Kids available for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. It teaches kids the alphabet through a series of mini activities that promote letter recognition and pronunciation amongst other skills.

Based on the popular PBS Kids TV show SUPER WHY!, kids can follow Whyatt and his “Super Reader” friends around the world. With over 400 words, kids travel the world practicing to read, write, and listen. Designed for kids ages 3 to 6, the new app is the fourth app based on SUPER WHY!, which helps kids build critical literacy skills through storybook adventures.

The SUPER WHY! ABC Adventures: Alphabet app is available for $2.99 on iPhone and iPod touch or $3.99 on iPad, or at the iTunes App Store.
