Having a Royal Ball with Disney

Geek Culture

Disney is preparing to release a new Diamond Edition of the classic, Cinderella, on October 2nd, 2012. Many folks do not know that it was actually Cinderella that saved the Disney Animation Studios from bankruptcy after World War II. To celebrate this extra special re-release of Cinderella, our friends (and yours) at Disney have prepared the shelves to be stocked with some awesome new items. Here is a sampling of a few items I was allowed to view at the latest Disney Consumer Products show in California:

Disney Princess GameDisney Princess Game

In this upcoming release for the Nintendo Wii, 3DS or PC/Mac, the player gets to enter the worlds of the Disney princesses. It is packed with mini-games to enjoy for gamers of all ages and even has a few role-playing game elements as the player works through levels as the Fairy Godmother’s apprentice.

Coming from a dad who just finished watching Cinderella, this doll is very reminiscent of the magical scene in the movie. When activated, twinkling lights travel up and down her dress and music is played.

I know this is not typical for GeekDad, but who can have a princess without royal jewels? The selection that we were shown (as you see above) are by Disney Fairy Tale Wedding Cinderella collection.
