If Tiny Towers — the iOS game where you are the builder and landlord of your own building — isn’t quite goth enough for you, maybe we could interest you in your own Hotel Transylvania. Sony Interactive has launched a new social game on Facebook: The Hotel Transylvania Social Game. While I respect their honesty in advertising for labeling this a “Social Game” right in the title, I do wonder whether a slightly more colorful title wouldn’t have worked better.

The new animated film Hotel Transylvania, directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, is still over a month away from its premiere in theaters, but Sony Pictures is already starting the buzz. Tartakovsky is responsible for some of my and my kids’ favorite cartoons of all time, including Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, and Star Wars: Clone Wars. This time around, he’s tackling the monster trope, featuring an impressive range of voice talent, including Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Fran Drescher, Jon Lovitz, Cee Lo Green, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon and David Spade.

The game, like the movie, is set in Count Dracula’s lavish, five star resort, where monsters can live the good life away from the prying eyes of those pesky humans. The game play is interesting, and a bit complex in parts, requiring you to add rooms for guests, furnish them, and grow your zombie bell boy legion. Like any good social game, you can check back daily to collect rewards, share gifts with friends and entertain your hotel guests for points. Of course, as with most social media games, if you want to get ahead in the virtual world, there are in-app purchases to be made.

The Hotel Transylvania Social Game is free to play and available to anyone with a Facebook account here.
