Transformers Prime: One Shall Stand Coming on DVD

Geek Culture

TransformersPrime_OneShallStand_CoverArtTransformersPrime_OneShallStand_CoverArtFans of the current Transformers Prime series, take note: next week the One Shall Stand DVD will be released. It’s actually a seven-episode story arc, taken from the end of Season One and the beginning of Season Two. (Yes, of course they ended the first season on a cliffhanger.) It involves a big showdown between Optimus Prime and Megatron, a worrisome connection between Megatron and Bumblebee, and … I’ll let you find out the rest when you see it.

Similar to the way they presented the first five-episode miniseries as one feature-length movie (Darkness Rising), this DVD gives you another feature-length story arc. I think overall I still prefer the episodic DVDs (and I’m eagerly awaiting the Season Two DVD, which is still a ways off), but this is a fun way to get a chunk of the story as a movie.

And if you haven’t been watching Transformers Prime, you’re really missing out. It’s a fresh take on the cartoon — a bit darker than the original — which is a lot more fun to watch than the live action movies, but brings the Transformers into today’s world. Pick up the Season One DVD and catch up!

The DVD retails for $14.99 and is currently available for preorder. It releases on Tuesday, July 31.
