MoonBots Registration Closes, Judging Begins

Geek Culture

Registration for the 2012 MoonBots competition closed last Friday, July 18th. A total of 147 teams from 22 countries around the world submitted entries and are waiting to find out if they’ve made it to the second round. A judging panel is currently reviewing and scoring all 147 submissions and narrowing it down to the top 30 teams, which will be announced around August 1st.

Those teams that make it to the second round will be sent a Lego Mindstorms kit and the resources to build a lunar landscape to compete in Phase Two of the Challenge. Teams will be tasked with creating a Mindstorms robot that can overcome real-life challenges that scientists and space explorers face on the moon. Thanks to everyone who sent in a team, the teams and entries in this year’s competition may make this year’s MoonBots Challenge, the best yet!
