A physics-based app with cute characters and challenging puzzles catches on a big way and spawns plush toys, T-shirts, and other accessories. Sound familiar? This time, though, it’s not angry birds and greedy pigs.
Swampy, Cranky, and Allie, the alligators from Where’s My Water?, have made the leap into the merchandising realm. Whether or not you play the game (I really liked it), you still might like the alligators, who are Disney’s first original character for mobile apps that wasn’t from an existing franchise. My wife immediately snatched up the Swampy iPhone case, which is quite cute. The case is a simple hard shell that snaps onto the back of the phone with access to ports and buttons. It doesn’t offer any screen protection, but it does feature a rubber duck, which has to be worth something, right? There’s also an iPad case available.
There are plush toys in various sizes, along with little plush character heads that clip onto backpacks. And, of course, there’s a backpack. Plus T-shirts, towels, and even little figurines. You’ll be able to find the Where’s My Water? items at Disney’s online store, or at Toys R Us and other retailers.
