It’s always fun to watch when two things you really like come together for the first time, especially if it had never occurred to you that they might ever do so. And that’s just exactly what’s happening for me, starting tonight. No, it’s not the MythBusters doing an episode all about bacon, but for my money it’s just as cool: geek icon Felicia Day will be appearing on the excellent Disney Channel cartoon series Fish Hooks for four episodes.

Day, best known as creator and star of the great web series The Guild, brings a level of geeky awesomeness with her wherever she goes, and it turns out this is true even when it’s just her voice making an appearance. For four episodes, starting tonight at 8:15 ET/PT on the Disney Channel, a fishy Felicia can be seen on the fun, geeky cartoon show Fish Hooks. She plays an angelfish named “Angela” (which is pronounced accordingly), but it’s plain to see that the artists had Day in mind when they came up with Angela. At least, I have a hard time believing they would have drawn Angela with bright red hair (yes, the fish on the show have hair, or something analogous) and a t-shirt reading “I ♥ nerds” if someone else were playing her.
Anyway, as the story goes in tonight’s episode, titled “Send Me an Angel Fish,” Angela is the head of the rival debate team, whom Oscar finds himself hanging out with and falling for… until he begins to suspect she might just be spying on him to gain the upper hand in the upcoming debate on the pros and cons of video games.
