My very first stop at the NY Toy Fair was the Skylanders booth. After seeing Andy’s coverage of the Skylanders Giants I knew that I had to check them out for myself. The booth didn’t disappoint, with a bunch of Skylanders statues and a cool castle motif. They also had the thickest padding under their carpet so I made a point to walk through whenever I could.

In addition to the statues they had a couple Wiis set up to demo the game play. It appears that the Giants will be a powerful, but perhaps not over-powered addition to the game. I look forward to seeing more character profiles as information is released.
What grabbed most people’s attention though were the Toy Fair 2012 Exclusive figures of Cynder with a metallic purple finish. I secured four of them to give away to our readers. Other than the finish, this figure looks and plays exactly like the regular Cynder so don’t expect the in-game experience to be any different.

Figures are still difficult to find, but can be had from third party sellers on Amazon and on eBay for about 2x the original price. One of the folks at the Skylanders booth assured me that another round of figures was making its way to stores so you may want to hold off before spending too much on your collection.
