Season 1 of Transformers Prime is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray next month, so Shout Factory has provided a few clips for your viewing pleasure. Like the Darkness Rising mini-series that kicked off this reboot, the show captures some of the feel of the original cartoon, but with a somewhat darker tone and a more modern quick-cuts visual sense. Adults may find it a little cheesy, but I enjoy it more than the Michael Bay movies (for one, they use the classic transformation sound effects) and I’d like to see where this goes.
The DVD and Blu-ray editions will be available on March 6, retailing at $24.99 for the DVD and $49.99 for the Blu-ray. They’re available for pre-order now from Amazon or directly from Shout Factory. I just got a copy for review, so I’m hoping to start watching it soon and report back, but if it’s anything like Darkness Rising I’ll be pleased.
