I disagree with those who hate on Lego’s Friends line precisely because those sets are not the culmination of the creative process of building with Lego, but instead are the beginning. Case in point, 17-year-old Anika Brandsma of the Netherlands added actual automation to her Lego Friends Olivia’s Invention Workshop (#3933) model with the help of Mindstorms motors.
