This week’s puzzle was an insidious one, for truth, made even more insidious by the morally questionable insertion of a proper noun (gasp!). If you didn’t see, the puzzle was as follows:
Arrange the following 16 letters in a 4×4, crossword-like grid so that all verticals and horizontals form words (you know, read left-to-right and top-to-bottom):
AABCDEHKLNOOORRZ
There are two answers, transpositions of each other, and they are:
a | r | c | h |
b | o | z | o |
e | l | a | n |
d | o | r | k |
a | b | e | d |
r | o | l | o |
c | z | a | r |
h | o | n | k |
Of course “Rolo” is the proper noun. (What I really wanted to do is start with NERD/DORK/GEEK in the shape of a reverse “C”, but then I couldn’t fill in the rest of the puzzle, can you?) The winner of this week’s $50 ThinkGeek gift certificate is Kevin. The rest of y’all can save $10 off a $50 order at ThinkGeek by using the coupon code GEEKDAD21FK.
