Hello Kitty: Tell Your Story!

GeekMom

Thanks to a trip to Japan when my daughter was 13months, she’s known in *our* house as “Tokyo Meow-Meow.”

Do you have a story about Sanrio and Hello Kitty? Are you a superfan? Or a super hater? Now’s your chance to spill your feelings about that ubiquitous little minx.

Send an email with your story to sanrioproject@rrockenterprises.com.

  1. My going-on-three-year-old is kind of obsessed with Hello Kitty right now, but I’m not sure I have a STORY about it. She just yelled “I’m not a cat, I’m a kid!” though, because maybe we had some confusion?

  2. I’ve been a Sanrio fan since her very start, getting my first products on a trip to Hong Kong in 1980. I used to be obsessed with Keroppi the Frog. I had quite the collection in high school and college. But then I gave up a lot of the stuff after multiple military moves and his being discontinued for about 10 years (he’s back now). I don’t think my story is worth a documentary, but I’ll be one of the first to see it when it comes out!

  3. My 10 year-old daughter has been obsessed with Hello Kitty for many years now. She has had countless HK shirts, backpacks, stickers, notebooks, pencils, video games, underwear, calendar, Thermos and lunchbag — it goes on and on. She still wears a HK hat and gloves her best friend gave her last year for her birthday. We had to hit McDonalds not long ago for the Happy Meal toys. Her water bottle for school is Hello Kitty. We just bought her yet another HK shirt at Target YESTERDAY. I know, I am enabling her habit….:)
