Viz Digital Manga on Sale!

Geek Culture

Now through January 8, 2012, all the Viz manga titles available on Vizmanga.com and the free Viz Manga app for the iPad and iPod will be discounted up to twenty percent.

The regular prices range from $4.99 to $9.99.

Included in the discounted books are ‘speed-ups’ of titles that will be included in the new digital version of Shonen Jump, Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha,> that will debut on January 30, 2012.

The ‘speed-ups’ are volumes of various series that have been published in Japan but aren’t yet available here. The print version of Shonen Jump published stories for American readers several months after the stories originally came out in Japan. With the digital version, Viz will publish the new material as it’s available, meaning American readers will now longer be behind. In the meantime, however, American readers have to catch up on the several months gap between the last print version of Shonen Jump and the new digital version. Viz Media has been releasing the ‘speed-up’ volumes over the last two months.

My eldest son was turned onto manga reading when he subscribed to the print anthology through a Scholastic Book order years ago. There are now over forty-five series and five hundred volumes are available digitally but my son’s favorites remain Bleach and Naruto.

For new readers, previews are added on a weekly basis to the digital app, along with new volumes for current readers.
