An 18-foot (5.5-meter) brownish-black fish is swimming at you. It has an enormous mouth and large rubbery lips. Are you in danger?

Search for [yellow northern California slug] and find that this is a banana slug. Search [banana slug] and learn, perhaps to your surprise, that all banana slugs are hermaphroditic, having both male and female reproductive organs. So the answer is: both!
