Like everyone else on the Internet, all of us at GeekDad are shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of Steve Jobs. The outpouring of grief and fond remembrances on the various social media shows far better than any poor words we could write the effect his life’s work had on the world, and the legacy he leaves behind.

We would like to express our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. If you haven’t already, please take the time to read Wired.com’s excellent obituary for Jobs, and another few minutes to appreciate BoingBoing.net’s sweetly brilliant tribute.

And, if you really want to do something significant as a tribute to his life and legacy, we suggest donating to the American Cancer Society. Cancer took Jobs too young, at 56 — think of how many visionaries have their lives taken from them by cancer before they even have a chance to do a fraction of what Jobs did.

Rest in peace, Steve. And thank you.
