You may not be aware of it, but Mark Hamill is a huge comic book geek. Yes, the man who played Luke Skywalker and whose second career as a voice actor is second to none gets just as excited by comic books as most of the folks who hang on his every word as Joker.

So it must be good news for both Hamill and other comic book fans that he’s getting heavily involved in the development of a comic book series, signing on as creative consultant to New-Gen, the series created and written by A.P.N.G. Enterprises and published by Marvel. Not only that, but Hamill will be involved in the development of — and will play an as-yet-unspecified role in — the live-action movie based on the series, currently in the works.

If you’re going to be at New York Comic Con this weekend, try to stop by one of Hamill’s New-Gen signings tomorrow (Friday) or Sunday at the New-Gen booth, and the panel on the series (with Hamill’s participation, of course) on Saturday afternoon. They’ll be discussing where the series is going from here, and probably the movie plans as well. I know I’ll be there!
