This Week With the GeekMoms

Chaos Mandy is looking forward to attending the Can’t Stop The Serenity event in Charlotte, NC this Sunday. The yearly charity event gives her a chance to hang out with fellow Browncoats, dress up in a costume and watch one of her favorite movies!

Cindy‘s week started off on a high note with early access to Pottermore, but is ending on a sour one since she couldn’t get away from work to attend Maker Faire this weekend. At least she has Harry to keep her company.

Andrea can’t wait for Maker Faire NYC this weekend! She’s going to see John Hodgman in person, learn how to pick locks, and help man the GeekMom/GeekDad booth. Stop by the booth and say hi–there will be raffles, geek kids, and t-shirts!

Sarah is prepping for a two-year-old’s birthday party this weekend. Fifteen children and their parents will descend on her house for face painting, juggling and good food. Bring on the cake!

Laura is canning tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes, and salsa while ranting about jobs created by small farms. She’s also celebrating her one-year anniversary on GeekMom by asking what YOU want covered by Geek Mom writers.

Brigid saw the launch of a new product line this week. It features some of her latest art. Secret Scents™ Perfume Lockets are so super awesome and are manufactured right here in the USA!

Amy is very excited that school has begun at last for her kids, and that Maker Faire is this weekend! You can find her at the GeekDad/GeekMom booth on Saturday. Come by and say hi!.

Jennifer D. made pumpkin spice cookies with maple frosting at the urging of the weather. She is super excited to go see Ghostbusters in theatres in October and for the following TV premieres: Vampire Diaries (Ian=yum), Ringer, Fringe, and Terra Nova.

Rebecca Angel will be performing at the Utica Music Fest this weekend. If you’re out that way, go to the Nail Creek Pub from 3-4pm and say hi!

Ruth is going to attempt to sit still for five minutes with her new Arduino after spending the last few weeks hopping from LinuxCon to Dragon*Con to Ohio LinuxFest. Next up: Halloween party planning!
