New Captain America Toys Hit the Shelves

Geek Culture

With Independence Day squarely in the rear view mirror, it’s fitting that Captain America: The First Avenger is releasing this weekend. And to tie-in with the movie, Hasbro has a supply depot full of toys to keep kids, both young and old, reliving the exploits of Steve Rogers, even after the credits have rolled.

There’s a couple of action figure versions for younger kids, including some Super Hero Squad figures and an electronic 10″ figure that’s impressive and lifelike. But the impressive choices come at the 3.75″ size. There are nearly two dozen different figures, including many variations of Captain America. There are all kinds of weapons that launch soft rubber missiles, a parachute for infiltration by the Cap’n, and a motor pool’s worth of vehicles for assaulting the enemy. The best part, in our minds, is the role playing gear. There’s a mask and a shield that shoots foam disks and a flying shield that resembles a Frisbee.
