Phineas and Ferb: Game Trailer, Episode Info, and Exclusive Movie Stills!

If you read my article last week on the upcoming TV movie Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension, you know it looks very promising. I’ve got more good news for fans of the show: Leading up to the movie’s premiere on August 5, I will be posting new information and/or materials related to the movie, the video game, and their various related events on a regular, roughly weekly basis. Today I have a trailer for the movie tie-in video game, a preview of this weekend’s new episode of the series, and two new — exclusive to GeekDad — movie stills.

First, the video game trailer. Now, if you play video games with any kind of regularity, you know that the ones made as movie tie-ins are as a general rule not very good. I’m pleased to be able to report that, based on what I’ve seen so far, this one looks much better than most. And to top that off, Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh (the show’s creators) have informed me they wrote and produced a brand-new song just for the video game, and you know how much fun Phineas and Ferb songs usually are. Anyway, you don’t have to take my word for it that the game looks good — you can see for yourself (I recommend switching the video to HD):

Second, the episode preview. In the seven weeks between now and the movie’s premiere, there will be four new episodes of the TV show, each with (as usual) two stories. The first of these airs this Saturday at 9:00am ET/PT on the Disney Channel. The first part, “Candace Disconnected,” sees the boys helping their sister out when she loses her cell phone for the fifth time — but of course their help may not be exactly what she was hoping for. Meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz will be struggling with an alternate, sarcastic head for his robot Norm, appropriately called “Sarcastic Norm Head,” who is voiced by none other than Joel McHale, the very funny host of E!’s The Soup and actor on the TV show Community. The second part of the show, “Magic Carpet Ride,” sees the boys trying to build, yes, a magic carpet, while Candace tries to bust them with the aid of fortune cookies (I haven’t seen the episode yet, so I have only the press release to go on on this one, so I’m afraid I can’t explain how the fortune cookies figure into things). Meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz will be hatching a nefarious scheme (aren’t they all?) involving his brother the mayor and a mysterious painting that may have a twist up its (metaphorical) sleeve.

And, finally, since Father’s Day is nearly upon us, the fine folks at Disney were kind enough to find us two exclusive stills from the movie that both feature Lawrence, the dad/stepdad of the Flynn-Fletcher family. In the first, at the top of this article, we see (in what I assume is a flashback) the family at the animal shelter on the day they rescued Perry, which is why the kids are all smaller than we’re used to seeing them, and in the second, below, we see Phineas and Ferb encounter Lawrence’s other-dimensional counterpart.

Be sure to keep checking back here on GeekDad for more Phineas and Ferb materials and information as San Diego Comic-Con and the TV movie draw nearer. It looks like it’s going to be a great summer for all of us who love the show.
