New Mario Chucks for Geeks With Nostalgic Feet

Clothing and Cosplay Games GeekMom

Still celebrating the 25th anniversary of Super Mario? (Or feeling really old about said anniversary?) Converse has a new line of Chucks for you.

You can have these with a black or white background:

Or for the more adventurous, go full Mario with level depiction:

and bonus fold-down flaps:

The image at the top of this post is the fold-down flaps on the Bowser/Fire Sea design.

The shoes are set to be released in Japan in July. The intern in my office this summer, owner of 18 pairs of Chucks, carrier of Nintendo controller wallet, writer of a master’s thesis whose title included Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: Wild World, says that things like this tend to not make it to the US–maybe the Nintendo World Store in NYC if we’re lucky. But if you hear of how to obtain this unobtainium-for-Americans, he would be delighted to know.

  1. I want to get these for my kids. Last fall my husband helped his mom move and found his old NES. He set it up for the kids and they have been having so much fun playing Super Mario Brothers.
