Free RPG Day Tomorrow!

Geek Culture

Tomorrow, Saturday, June 18, head down to your local adventure games store for Free RPG Day. Inspired by the successful Free Comic Book Day, Free RPG Day takes place in tabletop games stores around the world. In this, its fifth year, twenty different publishers — including heavyweights like Fantasy Flight, Mayfair Games, Paizo, and Wizards of the Coast — have signed on to supply stores with free introductory products to give out to people who come in to play.

Even if you’re not into roleplaying games, you might still be able to find something for you and your kids. Some sponsors have contributed special dice, for instance, while Mayfair Games has supplied “Catanimals,” a variant set of rules for the modern classic board game Settlers of Catan. If you are interested in RPGs, though — or have kids who are curious about them — many publishers have stepped up with solid ways to introduce you to their games.

Every participating store runs Free RPG Day its own way, so be sure to look up your local store and contact it for hours and any other details before you go.
