Book Review: Star Wars vs. Star Trek

Have you ever wondered if a phaser could hold up against a lightsaber? Who was wiser–Ben Kenobi or Captain Picard? What would happen if the Empire tried to invade the Federation? Matt Forbeck’s book Star Wars vs. Star Trek: Could the Empire Kick the Federation’s Ass? and Other Galaxy-Shaking Enigmas answers those pressing questions and more.  Twenty chapters pit the people, places, gadgets, and such of both beloved franchises against each other.

I have very fond memories of watching Star Trek with my dad–and only partially to avoid having to help my mom with the dishes. I married into a family of avid Star Wars fans. My mother-in-law has an entire room dedicated to her collection of Star Wars memorabilia.

When the folks at Adam’s Media sent this book to me, my husband immediately commandeered it and started reading out loud. Not only does this book have 20 quizzes to test your knowledge of trivia, but the book keeps a running tally of each “battle.”  The two of us had fun reading these and debating both the pairings and who the book pronounced the winner and why.

So who wins?  Well, I’m not going to tell you, but it’s very close.  Regardless, this is a very entertaining book for all fans.
