For all you fans of the Call of Duty franchise, and you know who you are, I’m excited to rave about the awesome new Call of Duty: Black Ops Annihilation map pack from Activision and Treyarch. Call of Duty Black Ops is the U.S. best selling game of all time. There are four exciting multiplayer maps plus a Zombies/Indiana Jones-like experience for the most lip biting online experience in the industry.

1. The Annihilation map pack includes four new levels of gaming nirvana:

“Hangar 18,” located in the highly classified military base of Area 51, where gamers will fight through experimental weapons labs, the SR-71 test hangar and a mysterious autopsy room.

“Drive-In,” where players experience close-quarters combat through a 1960′s American Drive-In theater, complete with a snack shack and a classic arcade.

”Silo,” where-in gamers can infiltrate a massive secret Soviet nuclear missile site under construction within a multi-level battleground.

”Hazard,” located on the cliff sides of Cuba, gamers can explore a coastal golf course fit for a Dictator, where stocked clubhouses and manicured fairways meet snipers hidden in sand traps.

PLUS:

”Shangri-La,” the all-new Zombies experience, transports players into a mythical paradise overrun with the undead. Our Heroes will come face-to-face with new species of zombies and navigate through a treacherous labyrinth of underground caverns, all set within a legendary shrine lost in an exotic jungle.

2. The “Shangri-La” map has content that remains for Dad’s (and Mom’s, hey, this is 2011 after all) eyes only in the man-cave. Zombies (unless they are Munchkin Zombies) are scary after all, so use your best judgement. As there are many divergent opinions about this, I leave it to you parents to make judicious decisions about when to allow your younger teenagers who are 13 + to play this game.

3. The maps all offer diverse game-play in maps from manicured golf course to an untamed jungle that will make Dad a happily gaming man. The “Shangri-La” map has several goodies to challenge your prowess at jungle survival, including zombie monkeys that smack you around and steal the perks you leave lying in the underbrush.

Remember that Call of Duty: Black Ops is rated “M” (Mature) by the ESRB for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence and Strong Language (sounds like fun, but it’s not for everyone). For more, check out www.callofduty.com/blackops, www.facebook.com/codblackops, and also via Twitter @Treyarch.

And, very importantly, Treyarch will host Double XP starting Friday, July 1st though the holiday weekend.

Now, why do I have The Lion Sleeps Tonight still playing in my head?
