“Superman Classic”: A Disney Animator’s Homage to the Man of Steel

Geek Culture

Robb Pratt is a talented animator who works for Disney. Despite The Mouse’s purchase of Marvel in 2009, though, Pratt’s preference is for DC — or at least for DC’s most iconic character.

In this brilliant (though far too short) animated video, Pratt started with the music from the old Superman matinee serial from the 1940s and fit a story to it. He took the features from his favorite Superman actors and melded them into a great-looking cartoon character, added Lois Lane and a giant robot, and produced something awesome.

The cartoon itself is only about half the embedded video above. Stay tuned after the credits to see Pratt explaining the process behind the cartoon.
