Cast Your Vote In the 2010 Geek Oscars

GeekMom TV and Movies

This Sunday, I’ll be in LA during the 83rd Academy Awards. Except I’m not going to be there for the gowns on the red carpet. I’ll be there for the Southern California Linux Expo. But that’s OK with me, since the Oscars often ignore our favorite movies–the geeky ones. (Although to be fair, The Social Network, a movie about one of the 21st century’s most famous geeks, is up for Best Picture and Best Actor.) So I’m holding the 2010 Geek Oscars right here. Get your votes in, and I’ll post the results next week, just as soon as I’m finished passing celebrities in the airport without having a clue that they’re famous.

Cast your vote in the following categories:

  • Best actor in a geeky movie
  • Best actress in a geeky movie
  • Best movie that you saw on paper first (i.e., comics and novels)
  • Most likely to be seen in costumes at a con
  • The one where you could see where the video game was going to come from while the movie was still playing
  • Best animation for geeks
  • Best flashback to your childhood
  • Best Geek Movie of 2010 for all-around geekiness, to be loved by geeks everywhere for geekternity

The nominees:

  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Clash of the Titans
  • Despicable Me
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I
  • How To Train Your Dragon
  • Inception
  • Iron Man 2

    1. Ha! Thanks for the catch. I don’t know why I wrote Tim Burton. I even got to see the actual costume at an exhibit yesterday. I edited the survey to fix it.
