The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival

Geek Culture

I haven’t had time to read every Newbery Award-winning book yet, but I could probably spare 90 seconds per book. Especially if they’re all as funny as this:

James Kennedy, author of the young adult book The Order of Odd-Fish, created this video, noting that “any book, no matter how worthy and somber, becomes pleasingly ludicrous when compressed into 90 seconds.” So he’s challenging everyone to create 90-second videos of their own to submit to the 90-Second Newbery Film Festival.

So grab your kids, your camera and your favorite Newbery winners (or Newbery Honor books) and get filming! Visit Kennedy’s website for the official rules, and get your entry done by September 15, 2011.
