Science Channel and Ridley Scott to Laud the Prophets of Science Fiction

Geek Culture

This one almost passed under the radar late last week, but I think it needs mentioning here. Science Channel and Ridley Scott are working on eight episodes of “Prophets of Science Fiction,” which will present the greats of science fiction who conceived of technologies decades before their time. From the press release:

The series, which will premiere in the second half of 2011, will engage audiences in a dynamic, hyper-stylized way that has yet to be seen before on television. Viewers will be taken on a tour of what was – and what will be – through the eyes of the ingenious authors, illustrators, filmmakers, and scientists…”

The only names mentioned so far are Isaac Asimov, Gene Roddenberry, and George Lucas. I know I’d like to see Arthur C. Clarke, and maybe some Larry Niven. What other greats of the genre would you like to see them do?
