Old School Winter Fun

Geek Culture People

All right. It is winter. In Wisconsin… the kids want to do stuff and the GeekMom wants the kids outside.

What to do? What to do?

Ice skating.

…but we’re not talking a Zamboni-smoothed ice rink in a climate controlled environment. We’re going old school: a small pond near the house.

Where the Zamboni is my snow shovel and a push broom.

Sure, it took a bit of elbow grease to get the “ice rink” into shape. Where we had to work around rifts and divots in the ice as it formed on the pond over the past several weeks.

We had a blast, and apparently we struck a chord with several of the neighbors who honked and waved as they drove past. Perhaps bringing back old school memories of winter fun from their own past.
