I have to be honest with you, when I threw my name in the hat to review a new book, written by moms who are doctors, I thought it was about raising kids. You know, tips on discipline, sleep problems, and sibling rivalry. Then the review book came in the mail and it had this title: The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth, by Rallie McAllister and Jennifer Bright Reich. I was a bit surprised, and I can’t explain to you the look my husband gave me when he walked in the door from work and saw it laying on the table (we have four kids, ages 10-19… we’re really done).

After assuring the hubby I had no secrets that might change his life, I found a quiet corner in the living room and flipped open this new guide, about a topic I last experienced ten years ago. The more I read, the more I kept thinking to myself, “I wish this book had been around ten years ago.” I would have devoured every word if I’d read it twenty years ago, as I plodded through my very first experience with the baffling world of pregnancy. Because this book really is different from every other pregnancy book I’ve ever read. Let me tell you why.
