Spend Christmas With The Doctor

Geek Culture

For the first time, Americans will be able to enjoy the annual Dr. Who Christmas special on Christmas Day, at least those Americans who get BBC America.

BBC America is planning a Dr. Who marathon on December 25h, starting at midnight with the Christmas Invasion episodes from 2005, continuing with some favorite episodes all day long. They”ll break at 1 p.m for “Dr. Who at the Proms,” a live event featuring the Dr. Who orchestra and hosted by Karen Gillan. The live show will include guest appearances by favorite villains and Matt Smith, Steven Moffat, and Arthur Darvill.

Then it’s back to more Dr. Who episodes, culminating at 9 p.m. with the new “A Christmas Carol.”

And if you’re still not Doctored-out, afterward there’s a special episode of The Graham Norton show featuring Matt Smith.

Dr. Who is one of the shows all six of us in the house enjoy and we’ve already set our DVRs so we can watch again over the rest of the winter break.

And we’re all very happy to have BBC America as part of our cable package.
