We’re doing something a little different this week. With October 31 just around the corner, we’re going to have a costume contest, GeekDad style. Since Halloween is easily the geekiest of all holidays, we’re going to have a competition that celebrates everyone’s geekiness.

Puzzle

Solve the puzzle, below, then write down or print out your answer. Get dressed up in your Halloween costume and have someone take your photo holding the answer. Answer the puzzle correctly and send in your photo and you might win $50 from the ghost and goblins over at Think Geek.

Solution

The puzzle is a simple substitution cipher with a shift of (what else?) 13. The answer can be seen in the image below from the winning entry by Randy S. and his two sons.

Congratulations to Mr. Potter and Mr. Skellington – and thanks to everyone who entered this week’s contest. May you have a happy and safe Halloween. If you’d like to fill your treat bag with some extra-good geeky stuff, you can get $10 off any order of $40 or more at ThinkGeek using the code GEEKDAD29YT. (Good beginning Nov. 1, or if you can’t wait, use October’s code, GEEKDAD65RW.)

Be sure to check back in on Monday when the monkeys at Puzzle Central will return to some state of normalcy and Dave G. will have a new challenge to kick off your week.
