Hold on to your party hats, kiddies! Science fiction, fantasy, horror and literature giant Ray Bradbury turns 90 today!

Born on August 22, 1920 in Waukegan, Illinois, Ray Douglas Bradbury went on to publish over 500 works, including Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man and Something Wicked This Way Comes. Bradbury hosted the syndicated television series, The Ray Bradbury Theatre, from 1985 to 1992 and many of his works have been adapted for film, television, radio and comic books. In 2000, he was awarded the National Book Foundation’s Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, and was presented the National Medal of Arts by President and Mrs. Bush in 2004.

Bradbury and Marguerite McClure (1922–2003) were married in 1947, and together had four daughters.
