The Perfect Footwear for a Diplomatic Mission to Alderaan

Geek Culture

This week, Stride Rite announced a multi-year partnership with Lucasfilm to manufacture and sell Star Wars-branded shoes for children. The footwear includes some creative approaches to including Star Wars characters — both from the movies and the animated Clone Wars series — including more than a few pairs that incorporate lights into the shoes.

Initially, just three pairs are available: a Millennium Falcon set of kicks, a Clone Wars Jedi pair and a very nice Captain Rex shoe, that is sure to be the envy of the schoolyard this fall. A light-up shoe with multiple light sabers based on General Grievous will be out this week, followed by a couple of Darth Vader shoes and more designs on the binary sunset horizon.

Shoes will run between $35-55 and, to celebrate the launch of this line, kids who buy now get a free Captain Rex mask. So whether your apprentice is a Jedi (or a Sith) in training, you’ll be sure to want to check out these shoes.
