Congratulations to James Hawley, who correctly solved this week’s puzzle with his son and won a $50 gift certificates from the folks over at ThinkGeek.
Puzzle
Ahh, July 4th – you can’t think about America’s Independence Day without thinking of the Freemasons – after all, George Washington was a Freemason. And whether or not you believe the whole controlling-the-world thing, the Freemasons contributed to America’s victory over the British. Thanks to Washington’s association with the Masons, he was able to use their version of the Pigpen cipher to send coded messages during the Revolutionary war, although with a far more randomized alphabet.
Solution
Using the key that was linked in the description, we can decipher the puzzle to get the answer:
“I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy” John Adams
Thanks to everyone who entered and don’t forget to come back Monday for another GeekDad puzzle!
