New Phineas and Ferb Episode, Father’s Day Dad-inator!

If you’re a fan of Phineas and Ferb, we have two very cool pieces of news for you. If you’re not a fan, there’s no time like the present to give the show a(nother) shot at entertaining you, because it really is one of the funniest, geekiest cartoon shows on TV.

The first bit of news is that, airing tonight at 8pm ET/PT on Disney XD, is the first new episode of the show since March. The first story in tonight’s episode sees Candace becoming mayor of Danville for a day, which opportunity she of course takes to work towards busting her brothers; meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus play golf. The second story sees Phineas and Ferb build, of all things, a lemonade stand. If that sounds far too prosaic for them, rest assured it isn’t: I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen, but evidently they end up creating lemonade stand franchises. I know several more episodes have been made but not yet (to my knowledge) scheduled to air in the U.S., including a full-episode length parody of The Wizard of Oz.

The second bit of news is that the folks at Disney have created a very cool e-card maker for the official Phineas and Ferb website for Father’s Day, called the “Dad-inator.” Not only can you pick which character(s) you want to use, but you can also to some extent customize the animated card by placing related objects in the scene. It’s pretty fun to play around with, and, speaking as a dad who loves the show, I can say that I’d love to get such a card from my kids. If you’re worried about privacy concerns, rest assured that the only email address the application requires is that of the recipient, and that it only asks for the sender’s first name.

Enjoy!
