Father’s Day is Make: Day at the Science Museum of Minnesota

Geek Culture

This Sunday I’ll be attending Make: Day, a miniature version of O’Reilly’s Maker Faires.

This is the second event in what hopefully will be a long series. Last year’s Make: Day was held in part to promote the wonderful maker TV show Make: Television and was organized by Twin Cities Public Television, who produced the show, the Science Museum of Minnesota, and the folks at MAKE Magazine.

This year’s event isn’t promoting anything, except good geeky fun! There will be circuit-bent music, papercraft, rockets, tongue-depressor bombs, stop-motion moviemaking, flamethrowers, robotics and squishy circuits. In addition, our local hackerspace Twin Cities Maker will have a major presence with three locations throughout the museum, including a booth inside, our Spoonapult outside, and a third spot featuring our giant Operation game.

Of course 6/20 is Father’s Day, and the museum hasn’t overlooked this fact. Dads get in free with this handy coupon!

Attending? I’ll be there manning the MAKE booth, come by and say hi!
