[Two years ago, I got to go to my first Wondercon as a member of the “media elite.” With Wondercon 2010 just a few weeks away – April 2-4 – I thought we’d show off a few pix from those nostalgic days of yore.]

Talk about Geeky! Yours truly took his family to Wondercon, the San Francisco Comic Book Convention, this weekend. It was the first con for my geeklets, while I’ve been to a couple over the years, and the GeekWife hit her share in her (earlier) youth as well. The kids had a blast, especially because Mom and Dad were in the mood to pick up some toys from a few of our favorite genre shows. The remote-control Dalek is going to be a lot of fun around the house, let me tell you!

Half the fun of a con like this are the sights and the people.

The other half of the fun is getting autographs and art:

First, the original Apollo

And to go with him, the original Boomer

And the one that made my boys most excited: Chewbacca

And, for the comic book geeks amongst us:

Here’s a Zombie from Ben Templesmith (for GD contributor Jacob Russell)

Kurt Busiek’s autograph on my Astro City book

And very fun, an original Hellboy by Mike Mignola

In sum, a grand day out was had by all. We even had lunch with GD founder Chris Anderson and some of his support staff (kids), and contributor (The Original) Kevin Kelly. And the best part for me? Getting to wear this all day:
