Tonight on the Discover channel (8pm ET/PT), a mystery three millennia old is solved by researchers who bring a little CSI: Ankara to the question of who King Tut’s parent were. Because of the turbulence surrounding the throne at the time, his own short reign and, well, the passage of three thousand years, Tutankhamun’s true lineage has been lost to the sands of time. But not anymore. In the Discover special, a team of scientists lead by Dr. Zahi Hawass, the head of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, performs genetic testing on a series of mummies, including Tut’s and some previously un-identified, as well as some good old-fashioned foot work and deductive reasoning to finally fill in some missing pieces of the history of Egypt’s throne. If you and your kids are into Egyptology, mummies, or heck, even Stargate, you’ll have some fun watching this bit of archeological spectacle.
