Take a Goofy Nostalgia Trip With ’60s Marvel Comics TV Themes

Geek Culture

If you watched cartoons growing up, and possibly even if you didn’t, you probably know the theme to the old Spider-Man TV show: “Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can.” But did you know there were also shows built around Captain America, the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Sub-Mariner? Even if you knew that, I’m willing to bet you can’t remember the theme songs to all of them (I sure couldn’t).

So take a few minutes out of your day to watch the openings from each of those shows, and read through the lyrics. It’s been far too long since anyone had the courage (if that’s the right word) to use phrases like “ever-lovin’,” “humdingin'” and “tuned-in-istic.” The full set can be seen here; the Spider-Man opening is shown below.

Enjoy, and remember: Somebody actually got paid to write those lyrics.
