MakerBeam is a completely open source, electronics-compatible building set created out of extruded aluminum. With projects ranging from arduino enclosures to robotics to a kid’s models, this awesome project aims to do it all… but they need your help.

The guys developing the technology have opted to operate the company as a startup, and they’re looking for backers. Impressively, they met their original $10K funding goal but they’re still accepting pledges. As I write this, 113 people (Including me) have pledged $16,522 to help the nascent company begin their production run of aluminum beams.
