How exactly does the Millennium Falcon turn on a dime while in space? Would the Vipers in BSG actually have used thrusters to maneuver? Could we really build shields around our ships? Could you conduct a proper planetary bombardment using laser-based weapons? Since the dawn of sci-fi, these questions have plagued the masses. Now, The History Channel will enlighten us all as to what is not only possible, but what is coming in the near future.

Okay, maybe not that dramatic, but the Tuesday, 10/6 episode of The Universe titled Space Wars, shows promise. With CGI turnaround times getting cheaper while upping their degree of fantastic, the episode is sure to bring the eye candy. As well as help contribute to some of the more heated debates about what is and what is not allowable under the currently known laws of physics when it comes to space battles. Check it out and add some “realism” to your arguments. The show airs Tuesday, Oct. 6th at 9PM eastern / 8 PM central.
