Economists of the Future?

Geek Culture

Growing up, my economic insights were limited to things like how many packs of Star Wars cards I could buy and still have change for a game of Gorf.

Over at American Public Media’s Marketplace, they seem to have found a group of kids with a little more perspective these days.

“We keep hearing that the money we spend now and the decisions we make could place a huge burden on our children,” reads the blurb describing the Small Town Hall hosted by Scott Jagow. “But we rarely ask them what they think.”

The collection of short videos has a few genuinely nice, blunt assessments from the kids, and one particularly keen moment of observation. It’s kind of like a public radio version of the “And Now A Word from Us Kids” segments on Arthur. I wish there were more clips, and that the questions were a little more in-depth, but hey, these kids already seem a few bills ahead of where I was at their age.
